Courgevaux Castle Park, Switzerland

Shared living in a beautiful castle complex
Solar roofMonument protection

The cottage in Courgevaux, Switzerland, was built in 2022. Together with the new “barn” building, it blends harmoniously into the castle grounds. The goal of the project was to create a residential community within the beautiful grounds of the castle.

    64 kWp maximum output
    58.1 kWh annual output

Courgevaux Castle Park

The "Cottage" stands on the site of a chapel that was demolished in 1917 and has a total annual energy consumption of 15,600 kWh. It took a great deal of persuasion to obtain approval for a rooftop PV system on two new buildings situated between the protected structures. The 64 kWp PV system on the hipped roof generates 58,100 kWh/year. As a result, the building has a solar power surplus of 42,600 kWh/year, with a self-sufficiency rate of 373%. The unique roof shape and rising ridge required custom module layouts. Over a hundred different CREA MODULES were installed. Thanks to SolarEdge, the electricity yield can be optimized despite the dense tree cover and the varying orientations of the roof areas.

The two crises—the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine—posed a significant challenge to the entire construction project. However, thanks to the Swiss solution featuring a 3S solar roof, the project owners were spared any supply issues. The substantial surplus of PV electricity is consumed as much as possible within the castle park grounds. This consumption includes, among other things, electricity for electric mobility. From the very beginning of the project development, it was clear that on-site power generation with a high proportion of self-consumption would be important.  The building, with its textured glass façade, impressed the PEB jury, and for this reason, this country house deservedly receives the 2023 Swiss PEB Solar Prize.

Solar energy system used

3S solar roof

The 3S solar roof replaces conventional roofing materials with durable, building-integrated photovoltaic systems. They transform the roof into an aesthetically pleasing source of sustainable energy while protecting both the building and its occupants. High quality. Architecturally seamless. Swiss Made.

P791 Car Residence

P791 Car Residence

Solar energy meets design and functionality—as demonstrated by the impressive building of P791 AG—The Car Residence in Belp near Bern. In collaboration with our specialist partner Baur AG, we installed a state-of-the-art solar facade that generates approximately 64,000 kWh of eco-friendly electricity annually with a total capacity of 90.63 kWp.
Espace Weisshorn Mountain Station

Espace Weisshorn Mountain Station

The Espace Weisshorn mountain station in Zinal (VS) impresses with its panoramic views of the Couronne Impériale and its innovative BIPV facade. At an altitude of 2,700 meters, it combines modern architecture with sustainable energy use. Designed by JBC Architectes SIA and Kevin Epiney Architecte EPFL, the building blends contemporary design with efficient solar energy generation.
Oberrieden Single-Family Home - Zurich

Oberrieden Single-Family Home - Zurich

Bringing a building with nearly a century of history up to the latest energy standards without losing its character is a unique challenge. In Oberrieden, in the heart of the historic village center and not far from Lake Zurich, Luzian Dörfler, owner and managing director of Dörfler AG, has achieved exactly that.
Glacier 3000, Switzerland

Glacier 3000, Switzerland

With the installation of an innovative solar facade at the Scex Rouge mountain station at an altitude of 3,000 meters, 3S is setting a groundbreaking example for building-integrated photovoltaic systems (BIPV) in high-altitude mountain regions. Together with its partner companies Solstis SA and Morand Constructions Métalliques SA, 3S has realized this ambitious project, which sets new ecological and architectural standards.
