3S Solar Facade : The powerful energy source in the vertical plane

Energy meets Design

The 3S solar facade is a frameless, aesthetically pleasing solar energy system that meets the highest standards for design, weather protection, and power generation. Seamlessly integrated, it actively contributes to the energy transition without compromising architectural integrity.

The advantages of an integrated 3S solar facade

The 3S solar facade combines outstanding aesthetics with cutting-edge technology, optimized for architectural freedom, seamless integration, and easy installation.

Ecological

Generates sustainable solar energy while replacing conventional facade materials.

Aesthetic

Integrates seamlessly into the building envelope and creates a uniform facade area—available in a variety of colors.

Robust

It is extremely weather-resistant (40 years), has been tested for high wind loads, and meets hail resistance class HW 4

Economical

Reduces energy costs, increases property value, and is low-maintenance, durable, and high-performance.

Simple

Quick and easy installation thanks to fewer system components.

Flexible

Can be combined with various substructures. Can be installed in a staggered or flush pattern.

Safe

Impressive for its high fire resistance and residual load-bearing capacity.

Made in Switzerland

Manufactured in Switzerland using carbon-neutral electricity, ensuring short transport routes.

The 3S solar facade : Maximum performance even when the sun is low in the sky

The elegant 3S solar facade meets the highest design standards and is both sustainable and durable. It maximizes energy yields, especially in winter when the sun is lower in the sky and roofs are covered with snow. Thanks to its glass-glass design, the 3S facade module offers advantages in terms of fire safety and residual load-bearing capacity. With its frameless construction, the module features an elegant design; furthermore, the 3S solar facade in its overlapping configuration is virtually self-cleaning. With alternative designs featuring a centered cell matrix, the 3S solar module can also be installed flush with the surface and with various other substructures.

P791 Car Residence

P791 Car Residence

Solar energy meets design and functionality—as demonstrated by the impressive building of P791 AG—The Car Residence in Belp near Bern. In collaboration with our specialist partner Baur AG, we installed a state-of-the-art solar facade that generates approximately 64,000 kWh of eco-friendly electricity annually with a total capacity of 90.63 kWp.
Oberrieden Single-Family Home - Zurich

Oberrieden Single-Family Home - Zurich

Bringing a building with nearly a century of history up to the latest energy standards without losing its character is a unique challenge. In Oberrieden, in the heart of the historic village center and not far from Lake Zurich, Luzian Dörfler, owner and managing director of Dörfler AG, has achieved exactly that.
Glacier 3000, Switzerland

Glacier 3000, Switzerland

With the installation of an innovative solar facade at the Scex Rouge mountain station at an altitude of 3,000 meters, 3S is setting a groundbreaking example for building-integrated photovoltaic systems (BIPV) in high-altitude mountain regions. Together with its partner companies Solstis SA and Morand Constructions Métalliques SA, 3S has realized this ambitious project, which sets new ecological and architectural standards.
Espace Weisshorn Mountain Station

Espace Weisshorn Mountain Station

The Espace Weisshorn mountain station in Zinal (VS) impresses with its panoramic views of the Couronne Impériale and its innovative BIPV facade. At an altitude of 2,700 meters, it combines modern architecture with sustainable energy use. Designed by JBC Architectes SIA and Kevin Epiney Architecte EPFL, the building blends contemporary design with efficient solar energy generation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long do BIPV modules last?

BIPV modules are designed to have a long life, comparable to that of conventional PV modules. They typically have a life of 25 years or more. Products from 3S Swiss Solar Solutions AG are characterized by their robustness and durability and are specifically designed for long-term use in building envelopes.

  • Are BIPV modules more expensive than conventional building materials?

The initial cost of BIPV modules may be higher than that of conventional building materials. However, it is important to consider the long-term benefits, such as energy savings, lower power costs, and potential incentives. Furthermore, BIPV modules replace other building materials, which can offset the overall cost of the construction project. Products from 3S Swiss Solar Solutions AG offer good value for money and high quality.

  • Are there any specific challenges involved in integrating BIPV into building facades?

Yes, integrating building-integrated photovoltaic systems (BIPV) into facades presents several technical and design challenges:

    • Ventilation: Proper rear ventilation is important to prevent heat buildup and ensure the modules perform optimally.

    • weather protection: The building envelope must be reliably sealed against rain, snow, and wind.

    • Load capacity: The facade must be structurally designed to support the additional weight of the modules on a permanent basis.

    • Design: The modules should blend harmoniously into the facade from an architectural standpoint.

    • Fire Safety: The structure must comply with applicable fire safety standards, such as those regarding fire resistance, fire load, and flame spread. In Switzerland, the VKF guidelines apply; in Europe, the EN 13501-1 standard, among others, applies.

3S solar facade are designed to meet these requirements—in terms of technology, design, and safety.
